Jazkarta launches SABES Web Calendaring tool
After three months of development, Jazkarta successfully launched a Plone-based web calendaring tool for the System for Adult Basic Education Support (SABES).
SABES promotes high quality adult basic education services through training, support, and resources that improve the skills and knowledge of practitioners and strengthen programs.
SABES came to Jazkarta with a need for a web calendaring tool to provide each regional center with the capability to login and add their classes to the website. They also wanted to make it possible for students to register for these classes.
Jazkarta built a robust calendaring application using the Plone open source content management system. Each regional center has their own calendar, and these events are aggregated on a master calendar. Classes can be assigned various topics and users can filter the event listing by these topics. Students can now register for classes online which has significantly reduced the workload of the SABES staff.
Visit the SABES Calendar to see this application for yourself.
The demo/training of our swank calendar was well-received by all in attendance and the people responsible for event entry seemed to be getting the hang of it fairly quickly. The SABES directors and the funder's liaison all said "good job."
