Jazkarta is pleased to announce the Plone Bootcamp to be held on August 27th and 28th at Tech Superpowers on Newbury Street in Boston. Roll up your sleeves and get ready to learn all you ever wanted to know about Plone!

NOTICE: The Boston Plone bootcamp is now over. Please sign up for the Plone bootcamp mailing list to be notified when the next one will be offered.

When

Aug. 27-28, 2005

12:00 - 7:00 PM

What you will learn

  • Day 1 - basic introduction to Plone, and is suitable for both non-technical and technical people.
  • Day 2 - focus on more advanced Plone topics, and is geared towards developers or those who have a more technical bent.

What can you expect to learn from Day 1: you will get a comprehensive overview of Plone's features and how your organization can use Plone to take your website to the next level. We will look at some of the 3rd party products for Plone such as discussion forums, RSS feeds, Rich text editor, chat, e-commerce, newsletters, full-text searching, member management, online donations, and more!  You will get hands-on experience using Plone and discover how easy it is for your staff to add and manage content on a Plone-based website.

Participants in Day 2 will set up a Plone site from scratch, learn how to administer the Plone site and configure it for your needs, customize the skin to change the look-n-feel of the site using CSS, install 3rd party products and develop new products which extend Plone's functionality. At the end of the session, you will have a fully functioning website from which to continue your development. We will discuss the issues of setting up and maintaining a Plone site, such as hosting, security, backups, and upgrading to newer versions of Plone.

There will be ample time for questions and specific issues that you would like to cover. Please join the Plone bootcamp mailing list to pose your questions in advance and stay up to date on the latest discussion.

Satisfied participants

Nate devoted a considerable amount of time to understanding our training needs and preparing a custom agenda. The class was highly interactive and informative, and I'm confident that our team is better positioned for success with Plone and the open source community in general as a result of our session.
