Jazkarta began adopting cloud technologies in 2008 when we moved our website to Amazon's cloud computing infrastructure. Called Amazon Web Services (AWS), this infrastructure provides a suite of IT services that allow you to requisition the power of Amazon's computing and storage resources. You can run any operating system and any application on this scalable hosting architecture.
In the years since, we have worked with many cloud platforms and deployed client sites to Amazon's Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), Rackspace, Linode, Heroku, and Google App Engine. For Django web applications our clients often prefer the simplicity of Heroku, with its easy deployment of Python relational database applications via the git distributed version control system.
For deployments of large, complex Plone CMS websites our clients are often best served by Amazon EC2, with its greater flexibility and extensive web services API. To serve this need, we have created a suite of internal tools to easily create robust, repeatable, best practice production Plone deployments on EC2. To learn more, download our Plone in the Cloud brochure.
There are many benefits to hosting your site in the cloud:
- Seamless disaster recovery with repeatable deployments
- Easily create and destroy isolated staging and testing servers that are cloned from production
- Pay-for-what-you-use metered pricing
- Launch new client servers during peak periods and shut them down when no longer needed
- Reduce bandwidth and load time for static assets
Jazkarta can help you deploy your application or website to the cloud as part of a consulting engagement or a Plone support plan.
